Soul Singles is held in high regard within the industry and has been featured in JET magazine, and a number of other leading African-American publications.

The site isn't necessarily the cheapest of its kind, particularly as prices have increased slightly of late, but it certainly isn't the most expensive either, and we were pretty impressed by what the site has to offer. Membership to the site ranges in price between $11.83 and $24.99, depending on the length of subscription that is chosen.

If users are a little reluctant about parting with their cash to pay for Soul Singles, we would suggest you give the site a go by signing up to the free membership option. By so doing, users can check out what the site has to offer in terms of features for a limited period of time, before signing up to a subscription membership.

Users of Soul Singles have access to a profile builder that lets you add a vast quantity of information to their profiles to encourage other users and let them know what you're really like.

You can also add up to 20 photos to their profile to share what you have to offer with other users. This is a bit of a backwards step as you used to be able to upload unlimited photos. We were also a little disappointed to find that your snaps can be no bigger than 200kb, which is very small compared to other sites, some of which offer up to 5MB per photo.

You can also add a 'video profile' to your standard profile recording a video message that introduces your look and personality to all of those who may be interested. You can also send 'flirts' to other users to let them know that you are interested. While none of this is particularly novel, it's all executed well and we were particularly impressed by the quality of features that are featured on Soul Singles.

You can use the 'personality match' feature, which allows you to take a quick personality test and then be automatically matched to other users on the basis of the responses given to questions. While these auto-matches are rarely 100% successful, they do provide users with something to break the ice, so it's always good to see them featured on dating sites like this one. Of course, like many other sites, you can also get in touch with others using the instant messaging feature or through internal web mail service.

If you're like us then you might experience some difficulty when registering. We received an error message several times when signing up and had to try different email accounts and computers to make sure our free membership was in order.
